The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation is holding its sixth annual Barristers’ Ball to be held April 10, 2010 at the Omaha Doubletree Hotel. The funds raised will benefit the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP). This program assists low income Nebraskans in obtaining legal assistance when needed.
The 2010 Barristers' Ball proceeds will support the general projects of the Volunteer Lawyers Project. There are many uses for these proceeds including: paying litigation expenses associated with the representation of pro bono individuals, paying interpreters in situations where interpreters are needed, paying a subsidized hourly rate to attorneys who represent victims of domestic violence, and supporting our clinics and self help desks statewide. Through pro bono representation, and the clinics, VLP has served over 3,000 individuals in 2009.
